An Unusual Turn of Events

We had a slow start to the day this past Tuesday, and around 10 am, Atticus piped up: "We never went to feed the ducks yet, Mom!" At the beginning of the summer, we verbally brainstormed about things to do on those boring mornings, and the Wildlife Sanctuary was on that list.

So I piled the kids into the car and off we went. We fed the ducks

A large green frog swallowed Paloma

And the kids decided it would be pretty darn cool to live in a turtle's shell!

And if being swallowed by a frog and living in a turtle's shell wasn't unusual enough, I heard a woman call out "Hattie! Hattie! Come over here please!" A bit alarmed at first, I then realized that the woman was calling out to her own little daughter. I initiated a conversation and it turns out that her 3-year old is a Henrietta Louise, often shortened to Hattie Lou, just like our Hatfield Louise! So now it's official: we know another Atticus, another Paloma, and now a Hattie Lou!
